Heritage Open Day in Barton, how about visiting us for a day dedicated to Barton's own Ted Lewis, acclaimed author, screenwriter, and creative force behind Get Carter.
We will host a series of events celebrating his life and legacy. The Centre is open for the Day from 10am to 8pm. Events include a trail around Barton
at 11am visiting Ted's favourite local spots, a screening of the rare Get Carter American remake, "Hit Man" (4pm to 5:30pm) and an evening presentation exploring Ted's work and private life (6pm to 7:30pm). A must for fans of literature, film, and local heritage.
Not just a pile of books. Discover the art, eventful life and times of author Ted Lewis. He wrote Get Carter which is regarded as the best British gangster film of all time. Ted was not only a prolific author but a jazz pianist and a talented animator. He managed more than sixty artists to produce the graphics for The Beatles' ground-breaking cartoon film, Yellow Submarine.
