The Old Cements


Ted Lewis and his pals enjoyed exploits on the derelict Adamant Cement Works on Barton's Humber bank.

This area is the location for scenes in Jack's Return Home and Plender.


Scunthorpe or Gateshead

A fascinating video comparing Newcastle and Gateshead, the location of Get Carter with Scunthorpe, which was the original setting in Ted Lewis's novel Jack's Return Home.

Playing the Get Carter Theme

The Ted Lewis Centre Chairman, Stefan Smaza and his band play The Get Carter theme at The Ferry House Inn. Ted Lewis occasionally drank in this riverside pub and featured it in his novel Plender.
