Get Carter

You may have seen that Michael Caine chose to auction off a number of his personal items  – naturally this included a number of Get Carter items. The highlight of this collection for Get Carter fans was a chair used by Michael Caine himself on the set of the film for relaxing in between takes. 

The Ted Lewis Centre's very own Chief Executive Officer, Author and Biographer Monty Martin, took on the mantle of attending the auction and happily enough he purchased the chair, despite it eventually going for well past it’s reserve.

Over 45 supporters crowdfunded £2500 and […] our volunteer CEO travelled to Bonham's auction in Mayfair on 2nd March 2022 and successfully bid £5,000, plus a buyer’s commission of £1600, well over the auction house’s estimate of £1200. The purchase required subsequent anonymous support from a local endowment.

The chair is now here at the Ted Lewis Centre and we have created a wonderful exhibition of the story, which can be enjoyed by all visitors.
